Internet marketing is the business of both advertising and selling goods
and services over the internet. It may be easy but it isn't an overnight
proposition as many would have you believe; it could be weeks, months or even
years before your Web site becomes viable and profitable but there are ways
that newbies can avoid failure.
Primarily Internet marketing is about attracting the right customers,
creating a user-friendly atmosphere, and developing content that's relevant to
your customers needs. It's an ongoing process that will never end for as long
as you wish to seriously profit from your website.

Internet users who see your advertisement in a couple of key locations
will likely notice the advertisement and may be compelled to visit your website
immediately or may keep your website in mind for future use. Internet Marketing
includes banner advertisement; e-mail marketing, PPC advertising, affiliate
marketing, search engine marketing, article marketing, blog marketing and
Blogging. These strategies can be termed as methods used for advertising and
company promotion and these marketing strategies therefore need to have the
innate characteristics, or ability, to be incorporated into any website in
order to get for the particular company the desired results in promotion and
hence sales. One of the major benefits associated with Internet marketing is
the availability of information. At one time, Internet marketing consisted
mostly of having a Web site or placing banner ads on other Web sites but more
often these days people look to affiliate marketing to make money.
Affiliate Marketing is seen as the easiest route to on-line success,
especially for the newbie marketer having virtually no entry barriers, you just
set up an affiliate ID and off you go. For anyone who has spent a little time
online, the term internet marketing conjures up thoughts of get rich quick
schemes, traffic programs, how to market AdSense, programs that automate
marketing online, the latest super duper e-book etc.
So why are the overwhelming majority of affiliate marketers and
especially newbies unsuccessful? Promoting affiliate programs is one of the
most rewarding and easy ways to earn money online, but making the right
decisions before you launch yourself into affiliate marketing can mean the
difference between success and failure.
Here are some 'common sense' ways to boost your affiliate sales.
The 'gurus' who create the 'must-have' products are very good at getting
compelling sales copy written that create urgency and action. They also provide
web copy for the affiliate to use as a 'sales' page as well as the 'thank you'
download page. Great for affiliate sales except that the affiliate has to do
all the promotion and marketing work and if a customer buys and gets sent
straight to the thank you page for their download, the affiliate has to start
again to find the next customer.
Affiliate internet marketing is one of the best and easiest ways to make
money online, but even better if the customer is added to your email list
before being sent to download their purchase. How can you do that?
Well my advice is to do two things:
1. Ensure that after payment is made the customer is redirected to your
sign-up page (a 'squeeze page') where they enter their name and email address
before getting to their download and
2. Make the buyer another offer at the point of sale when they are most likely
to make another purchase. If this is a complementary item to the one they
already bought and at a similar or lower price they may well buy - thus
doubling the value of the transaction.
Internet marketing is absolutely crucial for online success and can be
profitable with the right approach. Successful Internet marketing is a
combination between strategy and marketing and newbies need to know how they
can avoid internet marketing failure and get wise fast or they will provide all
the riches for the 'gurus'.
