Lots of people begin affiliate marketing because they think it's a quick and easy way to make money online. Affiliate marketing does provide great opportunities for both the new and the experienced online marketer, but it's not a way to 'get rich quick'. There are a number of steps that you need to take if you want to see results that you want.
How To Begin Affiliate Marketing
When you begin affiliate marketing the first thing to do is to find the right product to sell. There are many online affiliate marketplaces with products and services that you can sell. These include, ClickBank, CJ Affiliate, JVZoo,and Amazon.
Once you've picked a product you like, you obtain your own unique weblink URL to the product sales pages (often known as a 'hop link') and you use this link to get potential customers to the sales page.
This weblink is exclusive to you and you can use it in your online advertising and marketing, articles or blog posts etc which all aim to encourage viewers to click on the link.
When prospective buyers click through to the sales page and decides to buy from it, the product owner will pay you a commission, generally 50-80% of the price of the product. The product owner also takes care of delivery, the customer payment and after sales inquiries.
What Can You Sell?
You can sell pretty much anything you can think of by way of an affiliate program, including:
- E-Books and e-courses on thousands of different subjects
- Computer software
- Internet products and services like autoresponders, keyword tools and website hosting
- Membership websites
- Physical books, DVDs and music
- Electronic products and computers
- Beauty and health products... and more
Can You Really Make Money With Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing has great profit possibilities. Everything is set up for you, starting from a great product with a proven target audience. All you have to do is pick one and find a way to promote it. And this when affiliate marketing can be difficult for beginners.
You do need to do some homework and make a decision on the niche you want to work in and then find the product or service that you want to promote within that niche.
A good affiliate marketer knows his or her market - and part of the way they get to know them is through visiting the niche forums and paying attention to the questions that keep coming up. They'll see what problems people are facing and what solutions they are looking for.
